Typical occasions for a team workshop
A team workshop can make a decisive contribution to improving the cooperation and efficiency of your team in various situations. Here are some typical occasions for which a team workshop is particularly useful:
- Collaboration: Improving communication and collaboration through retrospectives or SWOTs, especially in virtual, hybrid, multicultural and diverse teams.
- Communication & feedback: Improve internal communication structures and establish a constructive feedback loop.
- Strengthening the sense of togetherness: getting to know each other and team building through joint activities that improve the sense of community and mutual understanding.
- Conflict management: resolving existing tensions and conflicts through structured moderation and mediation.
- Management changes: Integration of new managers to ensure a smooth transition and increased trust.
- Identity and culture: Developing a new self-image by finding common values, identifying strengths and weaknesses and developing a clear team mission and vision.
- Strategy: Developing and implementing clear team goals and strategies through joint analysis, goal setting, prioritization and annual planning.
Professional moderation & versatile expertise
Every team workshop is different and can present numerous challenges. There are often communication problems that can significantly impair the flow of work and collaboration. Conversations are often chaotic, participants talk at cross purposes and don’t really listen to each other. Misunderstandings arise quickly. Some managers feel uncomfortable with open criticism or suggestions for improvement and justify themselves. Or they moderate important objections or contributions and make quick decisions that can lead to frustration and demotivation. This is why professional moderation of the team workshop is crucial.
In our workshops, we create spaces in which clarity, structure and genuine listening become possible. With sensitivity, humor and methodological confidence, we moderate discussions impartially, include all perspectives and lead groups to sustainable, joint decisions. Our coaches combine many years of experience in coaching, organizational development and leadership with systemic, agile and creative methods. We bring a wide range of industry knowledge and intercultural expertise – for workshops that make an impact and strengthen teams in the long term. A typical team workshop
Preparation
In a preliminary meeting with you as the client, we discuss the current team dynamics and the team’s specific challenges. We clarify your expectations and the objectives, group size, duration and location of the workshop. This discussion enables us to develop a clear understanding of your needs and objectives in order to tailor the workshop to your requirements.
On this basis, we develop a customized and effective workshop schedule. We focus on varied and engaging formats that incorporate both cognitive and visual elements and encourage movement. In this way, we ensure that the workshop is not only informative and productive, but also dynamic and motivating. Our aim is to bring about a positive and sustainable change in team dynamics.
Implementation
A typical team workshop starts with a warm welcome and a motivating introduction. We introduce the objectives and the process and loosen up the atmosphere with a warm-up/icebreaker or a creative round of introductions to get everyone in the mood. We then clarify together what the participants’ expectations and needs are.
In the main part of the workshop, we form small groups of the appropriate size so that everyone can work intensively on the specific topics. To this end, we use directional statements such as “Away from Towards”, the SWOT method or retrospectives. The solutions and proposals developed are then presented and discussed in the plenary session. Here we moderate the discussion, collect feedback, refine the solutions and reach a consensus.
After a joint lunch break, during which we can recharge our batteries and exchange ideas, we can eitherdeepen the solutions we have developed throughpractical exercises, work on further aspects or discuss how to deal with possible conflicts, depending on the objective. Finally, we derive concrete action steps and measures with responsibilities, summarize the results of the day and the next steps and conclude the workshop with a feedback round.
Depending on the topic, objectives and duration of the workshop, there may be several work phases.
Follow-up
After the workshop, we create a photo protocol and summarize the results and measures. In this way, we ensure that the positive changes are anchored in the long term and that the team works together effectively over the long term.
